This blog is for parents, students, teachers and all others who are interested in Cloudcroft Schools. Remember...KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
I hope everyone is enjoying the new website for Cloudcroft Schools. I spent months compiling all the information for the website and creating the original website several years ago for FREE! So now the schools have decided to use another person for free. That is fine, free enterprise in America! But all he created is a new front page! All the other pages still contain the same information I compiled and put together on the original website. He is a fraud! It is easy to create a website when you are using information that somebody else already put together for you. Free is easy when you are using someone else's work!!
ReplyDeleteIt was my understanding money WAS exchanged to build and MAINTAIN your website. The old website was useless but the possiblities of a maintained functional site will have a positive affect in the community. As a staff member, I see such great potential once the staff begins to add their own input. I just wonder when we will get the new website up and running.
DeleteIf money was actually spent to maintain the school's website, then someone needs to account for that money and what, if anything, the school got for it. I asked Joel Ferguson (the school's IT director) several years ago about the website and was told that it was done by his wife for free.
DeleteMy question is why would the school pay for someone to maintain the school web site, wouldn't that fall under the job description of the school's IT director? Then if it was done for free by one person and the quality seemed like the school got what it paid for then why not make some changes and get a different person in hopes of it being something that parents and students can use. Lets give the new web site 6 months, then see if we could find an updated lunch menu, if so I call it a huge success.
DeleteWhy wouldn't the school web site be designed and run by the computer class? That would be good experience for them and also it would be free!
DeleteSeveral years ago it might have been free. I heard she got paid!
Just check out the new school web site and I have to say great job. Don't want to get involved in any cyberspace drama but I have to say I love the NEW site. Information is where I can find it hopefully it will start to be up to date which would be an nice change. The last 3 years the information was simply old which made the site useless to anyone who needed information about the school. Enjoy seeing things change makes me excited that something great is on the horizon for Cloudcroft schools.
ReplyDeleteIf you listen to the podcast, you will hear Mr. Beckler discussing the website (towards the end of the Superintendent's presentation). He is pretty clear that this is a test version. He is also pretty clear that he populated the site with whatever current information that he could find, then used the old stuff which was currently on the school's site. Everyone seemed to agree that a website is only useful if it is kept current and relevant. The hope is that the new website will be easy for the appropriate staff within the school to update. I'm hoping that specific people will be tasked with specific updates, and that everyone will do their part to keep the site current and relevant. I applaud anyone who is willing to step up and DO something...not just sit back and complain. That someone would refer to him as "a fraud" just tells me that they are out of line, rude and clueless as to Mr. Beckler's abilities.
