Brochure for "Buckhorn Renovation"
Here is the brochure for the Heart of Dreams facility planned for the old Buckhorn cabins, across the street from the High School. I learned of the brochure from the Adult Probation and Parole folks down in Alamogordo.

Thank you for your continual efforts to keep the parents informed. Even if this establishment starts at least the owners, village council and school will know they cant just pull the wool over our eyes.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the village that won't allow a franchise (McDonalds, Burger King, etc.) to tarnish their image will allow a half way house across from the school ... in the village limits at all. We don't want them ... that's why we're here to get away from all that! Let them get the help they need somewhere else. We don't want to have to start locking up our homes, putting up our valuables and worried about whoes knocking on our door in the middle of the night. We DON'T WANT OUR VILLAGE IMAGE, SAFETY AND SECURITY TARNISHED! They will not be welcome. Do they need help? Yes, they do ... but not at our expense!

ReplyDeleteWhy are you getting everyone all riled up about this? Playing on their fears? The brochure explains it pretty clearly, yet your previous innuendo seems to have people up in arms anyhow. Victims of sex abuse somehow gets read as "sex abusers."

ReplyDeleteThis is very important information. Heart of Dreams sounds like a wonderful place. It does not state the reason women would come, only what they would receive. They could be offenders. They surly could be victims. Heart of Dreams was at the Village Counsel meeting requesting permission/variance (whatever) for a chain link fence, I heard with rolled barbed wire, I wasn't there and did not hear it myself. Still, NOT ACROSS FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL. This community has the right to know what comes in to the Village. We're a community, that's what community is about. I'm all for Heart of Dreams, I think of Waterfall Lodge that is for sale in Waterfall, what a great place that would be for the women, ponds, wild life, acre of grass... the Buckhorns?.. hmmmm.
